Reading a study and explaining care to a patient call for different skills. We are preparing materials for professionals and students that connect assessing evidence with explaining care options clearly.
What we are preparing
Working with scientific evidence
We are preparing materials on reading research: how a study was conducted, who it included and what its results support. We will also look at when those results apply to a question from practice.
Clear communication with patients
We are working on examples of explaining care options in words patients understand. They will include ways to check understanding and discuss the patient’s questions and preferences before a decision.
Shared teaching resources
We are planning materials for exercises and discussions in medical and dental education. Authors and reviewers can suggest topics and examples. We do not currently offer accredited courses.
